Trout Fishing Heaven

According to US trout fishing guru Jack Dennis, veteran of 22 trips to New Zealand, the Nelson region boasts the “most consistent” fishing in the country. If you have a penchant for testing your skills against wily brown trout of a size you only dream about, look no further.

The area offers a superb variety of crystal clear streams and rivers that provide the ultimate fly fishing scenario — in magnificent Lowland or Back country settings, giving you the opportunity to stalk and catch large wild trout, in a pristine, untouched environment. A 20 minute helicopter ride from Doone Cottage into Kahaurangi National Park offers you the ultimate wilderness trout fishing.
